Office Building in Marousi, Athens
The building houses the offices of a Greek shipping company and is located in the suburb of Marousi, in Athens – Greece, in the junction of Mesogeiou and Europis str.
The building’s morphology derives out of the plot’s sharp triangular shape, which has been further implemented on the dynamic treatment of the building’s elevations. Main concept throughout the design process was the subtraction of selected parts out of a solid monolithic triangular volume of natural limestone, revealing new areas covered with various materials, such as structural glazing surfaces with shaders or artificial wood cladding.
The triangular sloped parterre by the main entrance accentuates the dynamic shape of the elevations even more. The building expands on five levels.
The double- height entrance hall and the staircase define the boundaries of the office departments on all levels.
For the solar protection of the South- and East- oriented internal spaces, shaders of 40cm width have been positioned on the structural glazing of these elevations.
Finally, the building’s roof garden becomes an ideal location for company events.
